Schkee DB4 Indy Car - P.O.R.
Schkee DB4 Chevy - Ex Tom Klausler

The DB4 began life as 1977 Lightning. The Lightnings were built Don Edmunds Autoresearch. It's history as a lightning is unknown. It was later purchased by Doug Schulz of Schkee cars. Schulz modified the chassis and renamed it the Schkee DB4. It was powered by a 209 C.I. turbocharged Chevrolet built by Champion Spark Plugs engine builder Dick Jones. With Chuck Looper as chief mechanic and Tom Klausler drivng, they qualified 30th for the 1981 Indianapolis 500. Unfortunately the car retired on lap 60 with gearbox problems, being credited with 29th place. It was not raced again.
The car currently has the original Dick Jones built Chevrolet engine. But the the fuel injection, plenum, tubocharger system have been replaced with the carburetor. For more information contact us at email: info@indycompetition.com or call (765)335-2057
