This car was driven early in the 1993 season by 1986 Indianapolis 500 winner and 3 time Bobby Rahal. Rahal's career began in 1970's in the SCCA's Formula Atlantic series. In 1978 he got the opportunity to race in Europe's Formula 3 series for Wolf Racing which led to him making 2 Formula 1 starts for Wolf in the final 2 Formula 1 races of that season. For 1978, Bobby moved onto Formula 2 but at mid-seaspn returned to the United States. For the next several years Bobby competed in SCCA Can Am and IMSA GT championships.

His big break came in 1982 when Jim Trueman formed the Truesports Indy car team. Their inagural season season netted 2 race wins and 2nd place in the Indy Car championship.  During his career, he won 24 Indy car races plus wins at the Daytona 24Hr and the 12Hrs of Sebring.

The Truesports project was purchased by Rahal Hogan Racing at the conclusion of the 1992 season. For 1993, Rahal Hogan removed the Judd AV engines and switched to the Ilmor Chevrolet 265Cengine. While finishing a promising 2nd place at Long both RH001's failed to qualify at Indianapolis. Mike Groff made 4 more appearances during the 1993, with his best finish being 11th at Portland.  After the debacle at Indianapolis, the project was shelved.

The Rahal Hogan RH001 was originally powered by an Ilmor Chevrolet, now has a Judd V-8 engine. A spare parts package comes with the car.
