Lola T8700 Hu1 was originally owned by Newman Haas Racing and driven by one of racing's greatest drivers, Mario Andretti.


Lola T8700 Hu1 was originally owned by Newman Haas Racing and driven by one of racing's greatest drivers, Mario Andretti. It was originally powered by an Ilmor Chevrolet 265A engine. Mario one 2 races and finished 6th in the championship.
It was then purchased in January 1989 by Kent Baker of Indianapolis. Baker had the converted to the 3.4 Liter Buick V-6 and entered it in the 1989 Indianapolis 500. Steve Chassey was the driver and unfortunately did not qualify for the 1989 event. Baker entered the car again in 1990 with Stan Fox driving. Fox qualified 27th and finished 33rd. The car is still in the graphics used in the 1990 race.
The car has been properly stored and in excellent condition. It is currently a rolling chassis, but a Buick engine can be purchased for it. See our engines page. It also comes with the following:
