Lola T8700 Hu02 is one of 13 T8700's that were built. It was originally delivered to Truesports Racing for the 1987 season.  It was originally powered by the Cosworth Ford DFX engine and driven by 1986 Indy 500 winner Bobby Rahal.  Rahal would win the 1987 CART Indy Car World Series championship with this car.

For 1988 it was sold to NHRA star Kenny Bernstein for his new team, which was a partnership with Protofab. The team was led by Gary Pratt and engineered by Bob Riley.  They switched the car's engine to the 209 C.I. turbocharged Buick V-6, producing 900 HP. Jim Crawford was the driver. In the1988 Indianapolis 500, he qualified 18th and finished 6th.  For the 1989 Indy 500, qualified 4th and finished 19th.
