This restored Gerhardt was built in mid 1968 for the 1969 Indianapolis 500. It was originally powered by a turbocharged Offenhauser engine. Rick Muther was the entered driver and he failed to qualify for the race. Later in 1969 the car was converted to 6 Liter small block Chevrolet. The Chevy is what makes this a great car. It has as much power as the Quad Cam Ford and is less expensive to operate than the Ford or Offenhauser engines.
