Built by Jerry Eisert, this car debuted in 1966 at Phoenix with Al Unser Sr driving. Built to use the Ford DOHC, supply issues required a change to a Chevrolet engine. The Ford engine arrived in time for the Indianapolis 500. The car qualified 33rd with Ronnie Duman driving. Unfortunatley, he was eliminated in the 11 car pileup at the start of the race. Duman moved on after Indianapolis and was replaced by Greg Weld for the remainder of 1966.
For 1967, Greg Weld stayed on. But after failing to qualify for the Indianapolis 500, he was replaced with Gary Congdon. Congdon drove the through the St. Jovite race. Soon after, Congdon was killed in a midget car at Terre Haute, Indiana. SCCA Can Am ace Lothar Motsenbacher drove the car at the season finale at Riverside.
During these 2 seasons, the engine installation alternated between the Ford DOHC and the Chevrolet small block. This car has been restored with the Ford DOHC, but the exhaust headers and bodywork for the Chevrolet installation come with the car.
